Chris Higgs is a photographer shaped by adventure, service, and a deep love of the natural world. Born and raised in Jamaica to British parents, he later served in the British Army as an infantry officer. In 1987, Chris moved to the United States, where he built a remarkable career spanning over 40 years in professional golf and sports.

Photography first pulled him in 1976, when he began focusing on people, travel, sports, and photojournalism. His lens then took a life-changing turn in 2006, when he captured his first underwater images—sparking a lasting passion for underwater, wildlife, and landscape photography.

Chris has earned recognition on major stages around the world. His work has been published by the National Wildlife Federation, the North American Nature Photographers Association, and the American Society of Media Photographers.

In 2024 he was the winner in the Wildlife Category Series in the American Society of Media Photographers Annual Showcase.

Inspired by legends such as Jacques Cousteau, Stephen Frink, and Alex Mustard—alongside photographers like Tom Mengelson and Jared Lloyd—Chris’s goal is simple: to create images that connect people with nature, helping them care about places and wildlife they may never have the chance to see.
